The chill is in the morning air, the kids are back in school, and now even the calendar is is finally confirming it: summer 2016 is officially over. The entire super 8 Lake George family truly loves summer, so it makes us sad to say goodbye to a very memorable one. We would like to thank all of our guests for making it so special, it was a great pleasure to get to know so many of you!
Summer started off with the completion of a new guest experience enhancement project that we are truly proud of. Each member of the Super 8 family contributed in the building and finishing of a new 500 square foot pergola. Constructed with towering hemlock beams, harvested right from the Adirondack Mountains, the finished area captures the full essence of of Lake George living.
The new area also provides seating for up to 20 guests to enjoy both garden and breathtaking mountain views. But the ambiance only grows in the evening when the lights come on and proved the perfect spot to sit back and relax after a day of adirondack adventures.
The additional area allowed us to expand on our very popular guest event nights from 2015. Each week through the summer we ran four unique events for our guests to enjoy, on Wednesday’s there was craft beer tasting from the local Adirondack Brewery. guests could enjoy sampling 4 different types of locally brewed ears, including the very popular summer seasonal Tangerine Dream! Thursdays were Root Beer Float nights, made with local Moose Wiz root beer, allowing guests to grab an age old dessert favorite before catching the fireworks! With the help of the Adirondack Winery, Friday nights were for wine tasting! With six unique wines, every guest was able to find the blend that was right for them. And finally, on Saturday nights we held the very popular Sundaes on Saturdays. Guests were able to select from plenty of toppings to make the perfect sundae! So whether guests were having their breakfast watching the sun rise over the mountains, or playing checkers under the lights after a long day, or enjoying one of our many popular event nights, guests were sure to be fond of this new addition to our property.
The summer was filled with fun evens throughout the area as well! The southern end of Lake George provided the perfect backdrop for a spectacular 4th of July firework show, with the thunderous roar echoing through the mountains with each burst. Charles R. Wood Park served as an ideal home for the second annual Adirondack Food and Wine Festival! The event was fun for al, as it had 21 different wineries, four breweries, six distillers, 26 vendors of artisanal food and food trucks (if you’re looking into attending in 2017, we recommend our good friends at the Empanada Sonata food truck, they’re the best!), and five specialty vendors with products showcasing Adirondack craftsmanship. And thats just naming a few of the events that were in town these past few months.
So with that we say goodbye to summer 2016! We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you next summer!
